As a youth worker, you know the reality: young people are navigating relationships, identity, and sexuality more online than ever before. But finding reliable, engaging, and culturally relevant resources to support them can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.
We knew that the best way to solve this wasn’t to build a platform for you, but to build it with you.
That’s exactly what we did during ACT 3 of the EUducate project. Over the past months, we’ve been working hand-in-hand with youth workers across Europe to co-design a groundbreaking, free Online E-Repository. Here is a look behind the scenes at how we built it, and what it means for your daily work.
🤝 The Process: Designing Together, Not in a Vacuum
This platform was shaped by the people who know the field best: you.
The co-creation process brought together 25 youth workers (10 from Spain, 10 from Luxembourg, and 5 from Italy), alongside organizational representatives and digital content experts.
Instead of traditional lectures, we used Design Thinking. Across 6 dynamic online meetings and 3 intensive onsite workshops in Spain and Luxembourg, we rolled up our sleeves. We debated, brainstormed, and actively prototyped. We asked the hard questions: What does a youth worker actually need on a Tuesday afternoon when a teen asks a difficult question? What format works best? How do we make sure this doesn’t feel like a boring textbook?
The result is a platform built on real-world experience, guided by digital experts, and rigorously tested.

So, what did all this collaboration produce? A comprehensive, easy-to-navigate E-Learning Repository designed to be your new go-to digital toolkit.
To ensure the content hits the right note, the platform features two distinct, tailored pathways:
The Result: Your New HOP Online Course
So, what did all this collaboration produce? A comprehensive, highly interactive HOP Course hosted on the SALTO-YOUTH platform, designed to be your new go-to digital toolkit.
Because it was co-designed with input from multiple countries, the course is multilingual and culturally adapted, ensuring the content respects local sensitivities while allowing you to learn from good practices across Europe.
Inside the HOP Course, you will find:
- 5 Interactive Modules: Covering everything from inclusive sex education fundamentals and the FRIES model of consent, to navigating modern digital dating (situationships, ghosting) and responding to digital harm (like sextortion or non-consensual image sharing).
- Ready-to-Use Practical Toolkits: Downloadable resources you can use tomorrow, including First-Response Protocols, “Define the Relationship” (DTR) conversation scripts, and Ethical Sharing Agreements for your youth groups.
- Engaging H5P Activities: Experience firsthand how branching scenarios (like the “Red Flag Simulator”), dialog cards, and gamified quizzes can make complex, sensitive topics engaging and safe for young people to explore.
- A Curated E-Repository: A living collection of trusted external resources, best practices, videos, and contacts mapped from partner countries.
🧪 The Real-World Test: Experimentation with Teens
A platform is only as good as its users. We didn’t just want adults to approve the content; we wanted the experts—the teenagers themselves—to test it.
During the field experimentation phase in Spain and Luxembourg, we invited young people (ages 13–18) to interact directly with the e-repository. They tested the activities, navigated the modules, and, most importantly, shared their honest feedback and emotional responses to the content.
This real-world testing was invaluable. It allowed us to refine the language, adjust the interactive elements, and ensure the platform truly resonates with the young people it is meant to serve.
🌍 A Living Resource for the Future
The ultimate goal of this process was sustainability.
This e-learning repository is not a temporary website that will vanish when the project concludes. It is designed to be a living, evolving resource. It will continue to be updated and maintained, providing ongoing support for youth workers, schools, and community organizations long into the future.
By combining local cultural insight with the power of European collaboration, we are creating a tool that truly promotes inclusion, digital transformation, and innovation in youth work.
